Welcome from Principal Dr. L. Jackie Tobias

 

My name is Jackie Tobias, and it is my honor to serve as your principal. I came to West Ridge having spent more than three decades in education — beginning as a school counselor, growing into instructional leadership, and ultimately finding my deepest calling in building school communities where every child is known, challenged, and believed in.

I was born in Jamaica and raised with a deep belief that education is the most powerful gift you can give a child. That belief has shaped every role I have held — from counselor to assistant principal to principal — and it shapes how I show up for your children every single day.

I hold a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and am National Board Certified. But the credential I am most proud of is this: I have spent my career building schools where students grow — academically, personally, and in their belief in themselves.

Beyond education, I am a mother of four wonderful grown adults and a proud grandmother of one. I love traveling the world, meeting new people, experiencing great food, and keeping myself healthy — because I believe how we take care of ourselves matters as much as the work we do.

Those values show up here too. At West Ridge, our theme this year is simple and non-negotiable: All In for Every Student. That means every child. Every family. Every staff member. We are committed to your child's growth, your partnership, and this community.

Dear West Ridge Families, 

Welcome back!  My name is Clarissa Barnett and I am the Assistant Principal here at West Ridge Elementary.  This is my third year with West Ridge and I am excited to continue this journey with you and your students. 

The 26.27 school year will mark my 21st year in education and my 7th year serving as an Assistant Principal in Colorado.  My other roles over the years in education have included first grade teacher, interventionist, literacy coach and MTSS coordinator.

I am married and have two high school students this year.  We have lots of pets at home and also love to camp, hike, and paddleboard as a family.  We also enjoy a good game of pickleball.
